Education & Career

Education & Career
Boys & Girls Clubs Academic Success programs focus on ensuring that all Club members have access to the necessary support and tools to graduate from high school ready for college, trade school, military or employment.  Listed below are only some of our many Education and Career based programs.

Power Hour:  A staple of our After School Program, this designated time from 3:00-4:00 pm is specifically for youth to complete their homework. In our Learning Center, Club staff and volunteers are available to assist youth with their school assignments.

Computer Lab:  Allows for young people to complete homework assignments,  papers, projects or research. Our technology center provides an opportunity for youth to engage in other activities like robotics, educational games and honing computer and technology skills.
Literacy Tutoring:  The Youth Literacy Enrichment Program is dedicated to improving the lives of youth through the power of literacy.

Math Tutoring:  Providing one-on-one math tutoring, working with youth to support instruction they are receiving at school. Members are tested for progress and brought to grade level before graduating the program.
Project Plie: Project Plié is an initiative founded by American Ballet Theatre in 2013 to increase diversity in the art form of classical ballet. Karen Mills Jennings is an ABT Certified Teacher in Pre-Primary through Level 3 and is a Project Plié Partner Teacher. As a Project Plié Partner Teacher, Jennings is bringing the initiative to Flint, Michigan and the Flint School of Performing Arts. Jennings will be teaching in the ABT Project Plié Master Class Series at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Flint. Additionally, FSPA will offer an extended residency at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Flint with weekly classes, dancewear and ballet shoes for their members.
